Judgment Day
After Armageddon, Jesus will set up the Millennial kingdom for a thousand years of peace on earth. His bride will be given thrones to rule from. The tribulation saints who had been persecuted and killed for their faith will now come back to life and join the others on the thrones.
Revelation 20:4 (NASB)
4 Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their foreheads and on their hands; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
Revelation 20:6 (NASB)
6 Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with Him for a thousand years.
Those who survived the seven year tribulation and stood at the right of the Lord during the judgment of the sheep and goats, will enter the new kingdom, still in bodies of flesh and blood. They will repopulate the land and their lives will be extended. Their days will be that of a tree. A child who dies at the age of one hundred years will be thought to have been accursed. With lives lasting so long, the population will grow quickly.
Isaiah 65:20 (NASB)
20 No longer will there be in it an infant who lives only a few days, or an old person who does not live out his days; for the youth will die at the age of a hundred, and the one who does not reach the age of a hundred will be thought accursed.
The people will live happily. They will work with their hands and actually enjoy it. They will find peace in the fruits of their labors.
Isaiah 65:21-22 (NASB)
21 They will build houses and inhabit them; They will also plant vineyards and eat their fruit. 22 They will not build and another inhabit, They will not plant and another eat; For as the lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people, And My chosen ones will fully enjoy the work of their hands.
Obviously there will still be death, but their lives will be much longer. Yet there will be peace. Even the animals of prey will begin eating grass alongside the creatures they once hunted.
Isaiah 65:25 (NASB)
25 The wolf and the lamb will graze together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox; and dust will be the serpent’s food. They will do no evil or harm on all My holy mountain,” says the Lord.
Those who were alive to see the Second Coming and be a part of the judgment of the goats and sheep, will one day die. When they do, they will receive their glorified bodies and join the others inside the Holy City. It will be impossible to convince one who witnessed so much that Jesus is not the Son of God and Lord of Lords. However, the same cannot be said of their descendants.
As those who witnessed the Second Coming die off, there will only be those alive who have heard the stories. They will begin to believe those stories were just that. Only stories. As time passes, more and more will believe those stories were only myths. Then after a thousand years, the devil will be let loose for a short time.
He will be furious with his imprisonment and his heart will be filled with vengeance. He will immediately go out and begin to deceive the people. Convincing them that those stories were all false. He will convince them that those in the holy city are living it up while those outside the city must work so hard for their food. He will fill their hearts with jealousy and envy and turn them against the city.
The devil will turn the people into one great army and they will march on the holy city. As they fill the plains outside of Jerusalem, God will destroy them with fire from heaven.
Revelation 20:7-9 (NASB)
7 When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison, 8 and will come out to deceive the nations which are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore. 9 And they came up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from heaven and devoured them.
The devil will be captured again and thrown into the lake of fire where he will be tormented forever.
Revelation 20:7-9 (NASB)
10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
After this, we are taken back to heaven for Judgment Day.
