Do Jesus and Paul teach different Gospels?
I recently saw someone refer to those who believe salvation is by faith alone as "Paul followers". I have often found Christians claiming that Paul taught a different gospel than Jesus taught. Some even claim that Jesus was teaching the Jews and Paul was teaching the church age. All of these views come from one thing. A tendency to interpret the words of Jesus to say something He never actually says.
Paul does not teach anything different from what Jesus was teaching. How can he? To believe he did, means you believe there are contradictions in God's Word. If you believe there are contradictions in God's Word, then you are as much as saying that we cannot truly trust God's Word to be telling the complete truth.
I will say it over and over and over. If you want God's truth, you have to find the truth that has no contradictions! And that means that Paul could not be contradicting Jesus.
The truth is, both Jesus and Paul taught that we are saved by believing in Jesus and nothing more. Nine times Jesus tells us 'how' we are saved in very plainly stated words.
You can read all 9 verses here.... Salvation Scriptures from Jesus.
On the other hand, all of the writers of the New Testament together tell us the same thing nine more times.
You can read all 9 verses here.... Salvation Scriptures from the writers.
That is a total of 18 times that God's Word says we are saved by believing in Jesus and does not mention any other means to our salvation. Nine of them from Jesus. Only 5 of them by Paul. Jesus taught salvation by grace as much as all the writers of the new testament put together!
Yes Jesus did teach a lot about following Him and obeying Him. So did the writers of the books. So did Paul. Do you know what none of them, including Jesus, ever taught? That salvation was by any other means than believing. Every scripture that is used to support salvation by works, obeying Jesus, water baptism, or any other means, are only interpreted to mean as much and never once state any of these things clearly.
Not only did Jesus and Paul both teach that salvation is through faith only, but when you really learn how salvation works and how it happens, you realize there simply cannot be any other means to your salvation. Salvation by any other means just isn't logical.
This link ..... Truth of Salvation ... has six links to other articles in it.
The first three links are to three articles about salvation. If you really want to understand salvation to a point it makes perfect sense to you, read all three of those articles.
The last three links are to articles on different false doctrines of salvation. If you believe one of them and want to know why they are false, read that article as well.
When you read these articles and you consider the 18 different primary scriptures telling us we are saved by believing in Jesus, you will find it very difficult to come up with a logical argument against this. You can follow a few misinterpreted scriptures and ignore the 18 primary scriptures, or you can realize that it is only man's interpretation that teaches salvation by other means and that is not what God's Word actually says.
